Fitness can be an expensive hobby to take up.

But the truth is, it shouldn't be a hobby. It should be a lifestyle choice that everyone makes, because not only does it make your body feel good, it takes care of your mind as well. Because of this, fitness certainly shouldn't be unaffordable.

Thankfully, in among the £200 gym memberships, there are a few people striving to keep fitness in our capital free and fun; some are charities, some are big companies giving back. Whatever their reason for offering free fitness classes, go out there and take advantage.

Click through to see our pick of the best free fitness classes in London.

The Bridge

This seriously great organisation offers affordable (like, really affordable) classes and gym membership to women as well as working to reduce the inequalities in health and wellbeing. Every so often, there's a spate of free classes and gym passes so potential members can try it out. The next lot are in April, check them out on Eventbrite here. If you do decide to join, membership starts from £20.50.

adidas

By now you know about the women-only fitness space at 152 Brick Lane (obviously you all came down to our run clubs last year, right?). The good news is, the space is still there and there's more going on than ever. To sign up for stuff, head over to their Facebook page and have a chat with the bot. She's very friendly.

Midnight Runners

Most of you will have come across a group of Midnight Runners in London; they're that huge group of people who ran past you while you were at the pub with music, lights and lots of noise.

They do 10k runs, midnight themed runs, Sunday long runs and more. Most importantly, they're sponsored by Reebok, which means they're FREE.

Nike Training Club

Many of the big sportswear brands offer free workouts but, like most free things, how regularly these opportunities come up varies. Still, it's very much worth downloading the Nike Training Club app and signing up for notifications as to when they're holding new classes in London. What's on offer ranges from skateboarding to yoga.
